Sixth Street Foundation

Expanding opportunity and strengthening communities

Our mission

Sixth Street Foundation invests our financial and social capital in organizations, leaders and initiatives that strengthen our communities and support the next generation.

Grantmaking

Our grantmaking focuses on investing in nonprofit organizations working to expand opportunities for under-resourced youth, as well as strategic giving within our investment sectors. We prioritize network-building opportunities with our grantees and commercial partners to help unlock value, foster deeper engagement and promote sustained impact.

Tiger Tank

Each year, Sixth Street hosts Tiger Tank, a pitch competition that invites employee teams to pitch nonprofit organizations for support from the Sixth Street Foundation. Finalists present at the firmwide offsite, and their nonprofit organizations receive grants from the Sixth Street Foundation.

Civic engagement

We encourage our people to be leaders in their communities and believe their time, expertise and networks are essential to creating lasting impact. The Sixth Street Foundation works closely with our grantees and colleagues to develop meaningful engagement opportunities. Hundreds of employees across our global offices have participated in volunteer events and in-kind donation drives and have acted as strategic advisors.

Meaningful change requires more than financial support. It requires a sustained investment of time, attention and a commitment to showing up for the communities in which we operate.

Collaboration in action

Unified Match

San Francisco

Sixth Street Foundation supported the creation of a mini-pitch at San Francisco’s Crocker Amazon Playground, in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Bay FC, creating a safe place for the community to play. Ahead of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League Championship, the Foundation sponsored a Unified Match on the pitch, bringing together children, families, players and community partners to celebrate inclusion and the power of sport.

HandsOn

London Sixth Street volunteers joined HandsOn’s BrightenUp London initiative, which works to make London’s green spaces more accessible, safe and biodiverse. Together, they helped care for Holland Park and contributed to a welcoming community space for all.

New York Common Pantry

New York Sixth Street volunteers partnered with New York Common Pantry to help prepare and serve meals for the community. Through food and support programs, New York Common Pantry works to reduce hunger while promoting health and self-sufficiency.

Bridge Lacrosse

Dallas Sixth Street volunteers partnered with Bridge Lacrosse, a youth development nonprofit that uses lacrosse to broaden horizons and expand opportunities for young people in North and Central Texas. Volunteers connected with student-athletes through a lacrosse clinic, a mini tournament and welcomed students to the Dallas office for a career exploration panel.
